NBA champion blasts Mamdani over Netanyahu arrest push: ‘A mayor playing president’

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) has faced intense backlash for his repeated calls to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. And the latest person to jump into the debate was someone the mayor likely never saw coming: Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma.‘People cosplaying as things they don’t have the authority, the talent, or the track record to actually be.’In a post on X, the 2020 NBA champion weighed in on an address Mamdani delivered last week in which the mayor reaffirmed his belief that Netanyahu should be arrested for serving as “the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people.”“I agree with the ICC that Benjamin Netanyahu should be arrested and tried for his crimes,” Mamdani said in the video. The mayor had previously pledged on the campaign trail — and reiterated in a recent interview with the New York Times — that he would seek to enforce the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant if Netanyahu were to visit New York City, which the prime minister plans to do when the United Nations General Assembly convenes in September.Mamdani added, however, that the NYPD lacks the legal authority to execute the ICC's warrant.RELATED: Mamdani boycotts NYC Israel Day Parade despite attending other ethnic celebrations Responding to the remarks, Kuzma wrote in a Sunday post, “This is 2026. People cosplaying as things they don’t have the authority, the talent, or the track record to actually be. Just for content.”He continued by calling Mamdani “a mayor playing president.”“Were [sic] raising a generation that learning the reward isn’t in doing the thing it’s in looking like you did the thing,” Kuzma wrote. “Don't fall for distractions,” he concluded.In a follow-up post, Kuzma acknowledged the wave of personal attacks he received for criticizing Mamdani.“X is for conversation, and in today’s age, you cannot have a conversation without being attacked if people don’t agree with what you are saying,” he said. “But somehow, I am a Zionist because I’m pointing out things that are happening in front of everyone’s face,” he added.In contrast, San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama liked the video posted to the mayor’s official Instagram account.President Donald Trump also chimed in on Truth Social, dismissing Mamdani’s calls, writing, “Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested, in any way, shape, or form, while in the United States.”The Netherlands-based ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in 2024, accusing the prime minister of war crimes, including using "starvation as a method of warfare," as well as “crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts."The United States has not ratified the Rome Statute, which established the ICC, and is therefore not obligated to enforce its arrest warrants.Like Blaze News? Trump Prepares to Scrap 50-Year-Old Radiation Safety Rule

The White House wants to get rid of a radiation safety rule that is over 50 years old and has been adopted by other countries.The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is looking at eliminating the “as low as reasonably achievable” principle, which mandates that hospitals, nuclear plants, and other facilities keep radiation levels at an absolute minimum, even when they are already below legal limits. The rule would be replaced with a “graded approach” that puts different safety measures in place based on expected radiation exposure levels.The legal limits for workers and the public would stay the same, and the NRC said that the public would not be any less safe.“We’re just removing the ambiguity,” NRC Chair Ho Nieh said. “But the standard for exposure to workers and the public, those are not changing. We’re just putting in place greater clarification.”The nuclear industry is in favor of the move, with its main trade association, the Nuclear Energy Institute, claiming that safety is still a priority.“We will always continue to look at what we can do to reduce the dose to workers, and maintain our doses to the off-site public as low as possible,” Doug True, chief nuclear officer at the NEI, said to the Associated Press. “It’s not like we’re just going to throw open the doors and let everything run up to the limits.”But other experts are concerned about what will happen given that the new rule raises permissible radiation limits. Edwin Lyman, director of nuclear power safety at the Union of Concerned Scientists, told the AP that the new proposal could raise radiation doses.President Trump wants four times as much domestic nuclear energy production to satisfy the growing electricity demand from new data centers powering artificial intelligence. He issued four executive orders in May last year to boost government funding for nuclear power and overhaul nuclear regulations. In doing so, though, the president may get rid of some guardrails that protect Americans from the downsides of nuclear energy.

The cracker has finally crumbled for the executive at the forefront of Cracker Barrel's infamous rebranding meltdown.Just over 11 months ago, Julie Felss Masino was responsible for what could be considered the American story of the year when Cracker Barrel completely swapped out its iconic logo for a mascot-free reimagining.'I want to thank Julie for her leadership and commitment to Cracker Barrel.'On Monday, Cracker Barrel announced that Masino would be stepping down after the company conducted a "comprehensive succession planning and search process."In a press release, the brand said that while Masino would stay on in advisory role until October 9, it would only be to "support a smooth transition" for her replacement, David Deno.Deno will join the Cracker Barrel board of directors following his role as CEO of Bloomin' Brands, which owns Outback Steakhouse. He also spent 15 years in senior-level operations at Yum! Brands, which owns KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell.Masino has been at the helm of Cracker Barrel since late 2023, but it wasn't until 2025 that the business spiraled out of control.After ensuring audiences last August that customers would love the new changes, Masino led Cracker Barrel down a winding, woke road that had customers putting the company on blast for all its progressive initiatives.RELATED: Cracker Barrel CEO praises company's 'Google star rating' while revealing huge financial losses Joe Raedle/Getty Images Looking down the barrelCracker Barrel was knee deep in "culture and inclusion," stating on its website that it wanted to promote "inclusive, ambitious, and diverse" team members.This included the "Be Bold" program, which had a mission to develop "Black Leaders" through "allyship, mentorship, and education."The "Hola!" initiative promoted "Hispanic and Latino culture through hiring, developing, and retaining talent" within the company.Cracker Barrel also had a program about "empowering" women and another regarding "strengthening Cracker Barrel's relationship to the LGBTQ+ community."As the backlash peaked, Masino told Blaze co-founder Glenn Beck, "I feel like I've been fired by America."In March 2026, Masino had no choice but to reveal how bad the company had been doing financially. Total revenue decreased by 7.9% compared to the year before. Restaurant revenue dropped by 7.5%, and traffic had declined by more than 10%.
