Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Tuesday that it could take “a few more days” to hammer out the terms of an emerging deal with Iran, dashing hopes for a quick end to the nearly three-month conflict just days after President Trump signaled an agreement was close. “There was some talks going on…

A pair of Democratic lawmakers – both combat veterans – blasted their own party for a social media post marking Memorial Day.Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) called out the the Democratic National Committee for posting photos of 13 U.S. service members killed during the military conflict with Iran and blaming President Donald Trump for their deaths.“It is incredibly distasteful to use our heroic dead for a political attack on Memorial Day,” Duckworth posted on her social media accounts. “I’m a Democrat and I condemn this post by the DNC.”Duckworth served in the U.S. Army from 1992 to 2014 and lost both of her legs and injured her right arm during a 2004 combat mission during the Iraq War.Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), who served as an Army Ranger during three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, also criticized the DNC post.“If we want the moral high ground, we have to be better,” Crow posted. “I fought for our country and served with those who made the ultimate sacrifice. It’s wrong to politicize this day. I won’t hesitate to call out my own team when we fall short."The president also drew criticism for his Memorial Day social media messages attacking Democrats."Happy Memorial Day to all, including the Dumocrats, who disrespect our Military and all of the tremendous success that it has had over the last year," Trump posted early that morning. "Memorial Day is traditionally one of the most unifying moments on the American political calendar, a day when presidents of both parties have set aside partisan conflict to honor the men and women who died in service to the country.""God Bless those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. I love you all!" he added. The DNC eventually deleted its post after receiving criticism from the Democratic lawmakers, but Trump's message and subsequent posts attacking his rivals remain online.
The official X account for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) was widely ridiculed on Memorial Day after shamefully using fallen American heroes to attack President Donald Trump. On Monday, @TheDemocrats on X posted an image of 13 fallen U.S. service members with the caption, “Today, we honor the American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice ...
President Donald Trump unleashed a torrent of social media posts Tuesday morning before his scheduled trip to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The 79-year-old president made 19 posts between 5:52 a.m. and 7:29 a.m. on his Truth Social website, touching on a variety of topics and demonstrating that he spent the morning with an eye on Fox News."Great job on FoxNews by Alex Gray. Thanks Alex!!!" Trump posted at 6:07 a.m., in reference to segment that aired about an hour earlier with the former chief of staff for the National Security Council during his first presidency."Historian, and far beyond that, Victor Davis Hanson, is GREAT. That’s all I have to say. There is no further explanation needed. A fantastic man!" Trump posted at 7:26 a.m., although it's not clear what prompted his praise for the conservative commentator. The president started his early morning posting spree by sharing a post from the Women For Trump account criticizing former President Barack Obama's nuclear deal with Iran, which was characterized as "sent tons of cash to fund nukes – treason."He shared other posts praising his deal-making abilities and urging followers to trust him, while another said "stay with me deplorables, you'll love how this movie ends."Another post from a QAnon-coded supporter featured an AI-generated image of former President Joe Biden wearing pajamas and sleeping at the Resolute Desk as Obama and Hillary Clinton hover behind him, son Hunter Biden snorts cocaine from the desk and a woman partially out of frame signs a document.Trump linked to two reports from the right-wing Just the News conspiracy clearinghouse, and another post addressed concerns aired on social media Monday when he stopped and appeared to inspect White House pillars for nearly six minutes."The only president who knows how to fix the White House," stated the post, which showed a photo of him touching a column while surrounded by Secret Service agents.Trump's visit to the hospital – announced as a "routine annual dental and medical assessment" – will be his third in 13 months, and he has faced questions about his age, swollen ankles and bruised hands, as well as his repeated boasts about taking cognitive tests.
Foreign policy analyst Trita Parsi questioned whether President Donald Trump authored his Saturday Truth Social post announcing a negotiated Iran war settlement.During his appearance in the "Breaking Points" show, Parsi highlighted the lack of characteristic misspellings, grammatical errors, and personal attacks — all typical of Trump's posts. He also noted the post correctly cited world leaders' titles and names — a stark contrast to Trump's usual social media style. Parsi suggested Trump may have allowed staff to author the post as protection against domestic right-wing figures urging him to abandon negotiations and resume military action. Parsi characterized the inclusion of nearly a dozen world leaders as a preemptive defense against inevitable accusations of abandoning Israel. The carefully crafted nature of the announcement suggests internal coordination, with Parsi criticizing previous Trump posts on Iran deals as market-manipulation tactics lacking professional review. The post's sophistication indicates significant diplomatic effort behind the scenes.Watch the video below. Your browser does not support the video tag.
