CBS News retracts false report targeting New York City's mayor

CBS News New York removed a false claim from its coverage of a petition targeting New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani after journalist Judd Legum identified the inaccuracy.According to Popular Information, the petition was launched by Giovanni Galante, whose husband died on 9/11, and called for the Muslim mayor to stay away from the 25th anniversary ceremony. CBS initially claimed "thousands of 9/11 victims' families" signed the petition. However, Legum's investigation revealed the petition organizers had no actual count of how many signatories were 9/11 families. Galante admitted the "300 figure" shared with the New York Post was merely an estimate based on personal networks, not verified data.“After Popular Information reached out for comment, that line was removed,” Legum explained. “A revised article on the CBS website says the petition has ‘purportedly drawn thousands of signatures, including some victims' families.’”The Facebook post showed the original caption was edited from "thousands" to "some" following the fact-check.Watch the video below. Fox News Grills Trump on Who Exactly He’s Talking to in Iran

Even Fox News is confused as to who exactly President Trump has been negotiating with in Iran. President Trump claimed this week that he’s talking to Iran “right now,” but Iran’s foreign ministry has fervently denied that claim, saying it’s not interested in direct negotiations. When asked about the contradiction on Fox News Tuesday, Trump struggled to explain.“We hear that you’re talking right now with leaders on Iran,” Fox News’s Brian Kilmeade said. “But Iran has come out publicly and said, ‘We’re not talking to the U.S.”“Well, they just came out and said ‘We are talking’ a little while ago,” Trump interrupted. “So could you tell me who you’re talking to, Mr. President?” “For some reason, we can be in the midst of a beautiful discussion, and they’ll come out and say, ‘We’re not talking’ or ‘We didn’t discuss nuclear.’ Well, that’s all we discussed, because they’ll never have a nuclear weapon, they understand that,” Trump said, avoiding answering the direct question. “We’ve had some very good talks.” He then went on to change the subject entirely, instead discussing recently deceased Senator Lindsey Graham’s insistence upon an Iran deal—surprising, if true, given the late senator’s violent, hawkish approach to foreign policy. “He was very much a hawk … [even] he was somebody that said it was a good time to make a deal.… Lindsey liked war, to be honest with you.” It does not inspire confidence when the president can’t confidently say who he has been in contact with while supposedly trying to negotiate an end to his increasingly unpopular and expensive war. This conversation came after a recent pause in violence in the region, and ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House on Tuesday—in which he most likely lobbied Trump to start bombing Iran again. Lindsey Graham Is Giddy Over Trump’s Iran Strikes in New Video

At least one American was cheering when the White House decided to drop bombs on Iran.Previously unreleased documentary footage has put late South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham’s warmongering on full display, exposing just how gleeful he was when the country ignited the Iran war.“Look what we’ve done here. The footage is a part of an upcoming documentary that is currently titled “Lindsey’s Graham,” a reference to the senator’s personal perspective on his role in U.S. foreign policy.“He would call what this was ‘a game,’” Holder told The Wall Street Journal, recalling that Graham had shared how bizarre he felt it was that a senator from South Carolina was closer with some Middle East leaders than most presidential administrations.Graham reportedly agreed to the angle of the film, claiming that he wanted the public to understand his role in the Senate. Holder told the Journal that Graham had remarked how “cool this was.”In another clip in which he expresses his joy with the interventionist strategy, Graham compared Trump to former President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Winston Churchill, likening the burgeoning Middle East conflict to World War II.“President Trump, when he gets into the zone, he listens, he asks good questions, no tweeting.
