President Donald Trump said in a Sunday Truth Social post that he would convert plans for the D.C.-area “Triumphal Arch” to “a top grade Military Complex/Triumphal Arch” which could be used for snipers and drone storage.
The president’s announcement on Sunday echoed his justification for the White House ballroom: that the project was necessary for national security.

President Trump has claimed that military operations are needed at his proposed triumphal arch in Washington D.C., in order to protect national security. A federal court is weighing the arch's legality.
Trump has also been calling the new White House ballroom a "military complex" and arguing it is necessary for national security purposes.
