President Donald Trump said in a Sunday Truth Social post that he would convert plans for the D.C.-area “Triumphal Arch” to “a top grade Military Complex/Triumphal Arch” which could be used for snipers and drone storage.
The project is one of several projects that the Republican president is pursuing to leave his lasting imprint on Washington.
The president’s post about the 250-foot arch planned near Arlington National Cemetery comes as veterans groups, historic preservationists and others attempt to stop the project.
Trump has also been calling the new White House ballroom a "military complex" and arguing it is necessary for national security purposes.
