A MAGA meltdown erupted online Saturday because a young man stated a fact to Erika Kirk in church. The supposed infiltration occurred Friday night as Kirk spoke at the Pursuit Church in Kirkland, Washington, as part of her "Make Heaven Crowded" tour event — and was interrupted by the shouts of a young man who rose to his feet."You married Charlie Kirk," he cried out. Video then shows the young man being dragged away and handcuffed by heavy security. The X account Frontlines TPUSA, which is affiliated with the Kirk-led Turning Point USA, described it as a "scary moment," despite the young man being the only one standing up and shouting the one line. According to the account, "A far-left activist infiltrated" the event.Jonathan Choe, who recorded the video posted by Frontlines TPUSA, asked the young man what he wanted to say to Erika Kirk, but he mostly remained silent, only saying, "The things she supports is offensive."Kirk took the reins at TPUSA following the assassination of her husband Charlie Kirk at a Utah University speaking event on Sept. 10, 2025. Earlier this year, students successfully got their Phoenix high school to pull the plug on her planned on-campus event because they found her views "too extremist."Her husband's violent death complicated the legacy as a MAGA influencer who made a career promoting what the Congressional Black Caucus Black Caucus has condemned as “racist, harmful, and fundamentally un-American” ideals.Choe described the events on his own account by writing, "Unhinged whacko went on a tirade" and "he got owned real fast." Meanwhile, other MAGA accounts agreed, "It was scary," while others praised Kirk for continuing.Some accounts questioned the description. Seattle-based journalist Hannah Krieg asked "what infiltrate means" here, as "It was a publicly advertised event with no screening process."Writer Matthew Boedy agreed, noting, "Interesting use of 'infiltrated.' Isn't this a tour to evangelize? Don't want people like this?"The event was also met with protesters who marched outside the church. MAGA commentators similarly went after them, with radio show host Jason Rantz calling them "wicked, evil monsters" in an X post.
A father has been nabbed by ICE agents just 12 days after the premature birth of his daughter. Juan Chavez Velasco, 35, was grabbed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement while on his way to deliver milk to the newborn in Weslaco, Texas. Immigration agents pulled in front of his car and hauled him off despite Chavez telling the team he had a wife in the hospital and he was protected by DACA. The deferred action for childhood arrivals response did little for the agents, who said it "doesn't matter" and took Chavez away. Chavez, who says he "never got to hold" his child before being taken by ICE agents to Webb County Detention Center, is one of a growing number of Dreamers who believed they were protected by DACA before being nabbed by agents. The 35-year-old, speaking with MSNOW, said, "I feel betrayed. I feel very sad and heartbroken because I would have thought that the Trump administration would be more compassionate towards people like me who contribute to the country and have basically lived here all our lives."I love this country. I love what I’ve been able to accomplish here. We’re all contributing, we’re all paying taxes, this is our home. I’m not asking for a free ride. "I feel like a majority of people would agree that we deserve something because it wasn’t our fault to be here and because we love this country. We want to be here, we want to be part of this. We want to be Americans, because we’re Americans at heart."His wife, Villarreal, added, "He has no criminal history. Never has had any type of criminal history. He did everything right." Their daughter, Elianna, was born on February 6.Chavez Velasco’s DACA status expired on March 10 while he was being held at Webb County Detention Center, and despite filing a renewal request with the government. Jodi Goodwin, Chavez Velasco’s attorney, hopes the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services renews his DACA and that ICE releases him. “We’re straddling a tightrope, because we need time and we don’t have that kind of time if they’re going to put him on a plane,” Goodwin said. “I don’t have a lot of faith in what we’re doing here, because I don’t have any faith in ICE whatsoever."
Trump, his billionaire buddies, and his Republican lickspittles appear to be setting up a possible massive fraud with regard to this fall’s election. It could signal the end of American democracy.We democracy-loving Americans have fought oligarchy three times on these shores, roughly every 80 years. Each time, we defeated the morbidly rich and established or re-established popular democracy and a government that put working-class people ahead of the oligarchs.This time, the oligarchs are behaving like they believe they can win, and the measures our billionaire oligarch-in-chief is taking right now should put every American on alert, if not provoke immediate impeachment.First, some background.While the Founders like Jefferson and Washington had large plantations and exploited the labor of enslaved people, they weren’t the truly rich, the oligarchs, of their era. Both those men, in fact, died in bankruptcy or its near-equivalent. The richest man to sign the Declaration of Independence was John Hancock, whose “fortune” was only worth about a million dollars in today’s money; like every other Founder, he left no fortune or family dynasty.But there were real oligarchs in America in the 1770s, universally aligned with the British king, and they hated the idea of democracy and independence.In The Rise of American Civilization, historian Charles Beard’s most famous work, he notes that on the banks of the Hudson River:“From mansions that were castles, the Johnsons ruled in the Upper Mohawk Valley with a sway that was half feudal and half barbaric, relying on numerous kinsmen, armed Negro slaves, trained bands of Gaelic retainers, and savage allies from the dread Iroquois to maintain their sovereignty over forest and plain.”It was the wealthiest families of the colonies who most strongly opposed both the Revolutionary War and the Constitution, because both endangered the stability of their fortunes, which were grounded in trade or relationships with England. Thousands of these families fought for and with the British, and fled the colonies after the Revolutionary War, both to England and Canada.In the 1780s, we defeated oligarchy and established a fledgling, albeit imperfect, democracy, the world’s first at that scale.Eighty years later, the plantation oligarchs of the Old South had amassed such fortunes that only a few hundred families essentially controlled the economy and politics of that entire region.By the early 1850s, they’d outlawed democracy, rigging elections, imprisoning or killing pro-democracy newspaper writers and publishers, and turning their slave patrols against even white men who dared challenge their power.In 1861, after declaring their independence from the United States, they turned their guns on the rest of America in an effort to finally end democracy on this continent. Abraham Lincoln defeated them and reestablished (a still-imperfect) democracy in America.Eighty years after the end of the Civil War, oligarchs had once again seized control of the American economy and government during the part of the Gilded Age known as the Roaring 20s.President Grover Cleveland had pointed to its early stages, warning Americans:“As we view the achievements of aggregated capital, we discover the existence of trusts, combinations, and monopolies, while the citizen is struggling far in the rear or is trampled to death beneath an iron heel. Corporations, which should be the carefully restrained creatures of the law and the servants of the people, are fast becoming the people’s masters.”The oligarchs’ excesses, though, crashed the economy, leading to the Republican Great Depression and the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933. He challenged his era’s oligarchs head-on, saying, “They hate me, and I welcome their hatred.”With his New Deal and his 90% top income tax rate, he broke them, and both reestablished our democracy as well as building the first middle class in world history that was more than half of a nation’s population.So here we are now, 81 years after the end of World War II, and the oligarchs have once again seized control of our economy and our government. As President Jimmy Carter told me 10 years ago on my radio program:“It [Citizens United] violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery… So now we’ve just seen a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors.”And now we learn that the billionaire oligarch in the White House has gutted every one of the federal agencies designed to protect this fall’s election, as if embracing the mentality of the old Confederate oligarchs who’d essentially outlawed voting by anybody who may have opposed them.Since taking office, Trump has:— Frozen and defunded the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) election security division,— Cut off the threat-sharing network serving 1,300 state and local election officials,—...

It's 102 days until the 2026 midterm elections, and President Donald Trump is having an increasingly difficult time managing the global oil markets that determine the price of fuel. And it's only growing worse as the war heats up in the Middle East again. Politico reported on Friday that the oil problem isn't merely oil tankers making their way through the Strait of Hormuz. There are now three major shipping lanes that are falling under attack this week at a time that inventories are getting low. Caspian Pipeline Consortium is owned in part by Chevron and Exxon Mobil, both U.S. oil companies. Its boats have been caught in the Black Sea as Ukraine works to stop Russian oil being sold to other countries. Its spokesperson told Politico that oil shipments “are not being carried out.” And Kazakhstan denounced drone attacks as “destabilizing lawful international trade and global energy markets.”In the Red Sea, Houthi allies in Yemen are targeting oil shipments through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. As the report explained, "That route had seen increased traffic as Saudi Arabia diverted some of its Persian Gulf flows through a pipeline to its western port of Yanbu."Oil shipments through there have increased five times what they were pre-Iran war. But this week the Houthis declared a blockade on Saudi exports through the strait there.The U.S. oil stockpile in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve reached its lowest point this week since 1983. There were about 400 million barrels of oil at the start of 2026, KWCH reported. Now it's nearing 300 million in just a few months. The U.S. uses a little over 20 million barrels per day, reports explained. Politico explained, there is "little hope of refilling them soon. And the temporary measures that have kept markets afloat since the war in Iran began, such as releases from nations’ petroleum reserves, are nearing their end."Meanwhile, fuel prices jumped 15 cents on Thursday and is now over $4 a gallon again, according to AAA. That surge in prices has gotten no response from the president. In fact, recent reports said he's "bored" with Iran and wants to move on.“Many Republicans thought [their chances of retaining control of Congress] had already hit rock bottom in the late spring and early summer, but now they’re finding that they can actually fall further,” political science fellow Mark Jones told Politico. “The danger for Republicans is we’re now just a little over three months away from Election Day, and even if the conflict is resolved relatively soon, many consumers are not going to see those benefits before they cast the ballot in the November 2026 elections,” he added.Trump has spent the past several months playing up solutions, ceasefires, deals and a memorandum of understanding, but what Trump once called an "excursion" that would only last "a few weeks" has turned into a full-blown war and oil crisis. The White House has said that the point and purpose was to stop Iran from having a nuclear weapon, but said last year that the U.S. already "obliterated" the country's nuclear program. On Thursday, the spokesperson said that oil and gas prices will “plummet back to pre-conflict levels” once the U.S. military stops Iran from harassing ships in the strait. The White House believes that Trump is “committed to unleashing American energy dominance, cutting costs and putting more money back in the pockets." In 18 months, Americans have seen the opposite as high fuel prices drive up transportation and shipping costs. That has increased the prices of groceries and goods.
