Yet another woman booted from Trump’s Cabinet

Summary
A third woman is leaving President Donald Trump’s Cabinet in roughly a month: first Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, then Attorney General Pam Bondi — and now Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer.“Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer will be leaving the administration to take a position in the private sector,” White House spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement. “She has done a phenomenal job in her role by protecting American workers, enacting fair labor practices, and helping Americans gain additional skills to improve their lives.” Cheung added Deputy Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling will take her place.Unlike Noem and Bondi, Chavez-DeRemer was not explicitly fired, but rather had her departure merely announced without reference to a predicating incident. Yet there were a number of controversies surrounding DeRemer: she is accused of sending personal messages and requests to young staff members, with some of her family and top aides doing likewise; of using official staff to schedule personal trips; and of abusing alcohol on the job. Chavez-DeRemer’s husband is also accused of inappropriate relationships with young female staffers.“From Orban to Lori Chavez-DeRemer, the post liberal project of the right keeps collapsing on its own corruption,” conservative commentator Erick Erickson posted on X.Journalist Rob Archer added, Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has resigned, becoming the latest woman in Trump’s Cabinet to step down during internal turmoil. Her exit follows an investigation by Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito into allegations of misconduct, which she denies.”A Bluesky user named PortiaMcGonagal likewise commented on the fact that “and watch it be another woman bounced before Kegsbreath or RFK JRaccoon Penis” before quoting herself saying "... Lori Chavez-DeRemer could be the next one of Trump's cabinet secretaries to depart…” An Oregon Democrat wrote that “if you pick Lori Chavez deRemer as the next woman under the bus, you WIN! Will the next be Bondi, or Linda McMahon? After all the women, then he will go after the BIPOC men, but in politics, misogyny is stronger than racism.”Bluesky user NanBP was more succinct in summing up the situation: “Another one bites the dust and surprise, surprise ... It’s another woman. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer resigns.”Both Noem and Bondi also departed from the White House under less than favorable circumstances. Bondi was fired in the first week of April due to Trump’s frustration with her failure to successfully prosecute his various political enemies, while Noem was fired in March for falsely claiming Trump authorized a $220 million advertising campaign and allegedly having an affair with her aide, Corey Lewandowski.
