White House ignites internet frenzy as it registers 'aliens.gov': 'It's time!'

Summary
The Trump administration sent the UFO enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists into a frenzy on Wednesday when it quietly registered the domain name "Aliens.gov," as speculation swirled over what the federal government may be preparing to reveal about extraterrestrial life. The domain, which is not yet live, was flagged on Wednesday by an automated tracker of new federal websites, the New York Post reported. Its registration comes roughly a month after Trump announced he was ordering agencies to identify and release government files related to UFOs, unidentified aerial phenomena, and extraterrestrial life."Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post last month.Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has since offered little clarity on timing. "We’re digging in. We’re going to be in full compliance with that executive order, eager to provide that for the president,” he said, carefully stopping short of any concrete promises.Adding fuel to the fire, former deputy assistant secretary of defense intelligence Christopher Mellon told the New York Post last week that the government possesses a significant cache of photos and videos that would elevate public UFO discourse "to another level."“We have satellite imagery of craft that sure don’t look like anything that we have built or constructed,” Mellon said.Former President Barack Obama, meanwhile, said aliens were "real" before walking it back on Instagram. The internet predictably melted down, with many users sharing memes and gifs of Giorgio Tsoukalos, of "Ancient Aliens" fame on The History Channel.News Nation investigative journalist Ross Coulthart, a prominent figure in UFO circles, wrote on X, "President @POTUS' executive office has registered http://aliens.gov: UFO disclosure edges closer as new US government website is spotted."The Total Disclosure Podcast wrote on X, "Well holy s---. This may be fun… @POTUS."UAP/UFO enthusiast Wolfgang wrote on X, "It's time."But not everyone shared the sentiment that "aliens.gov" was an out-of-this-world reference. Many pointed out the term has an entirely different meaning.Sawan replied to Coulthart, "Lmao come on Ross you know this is related to illegals. Until we have some sort of acknowledgement from the WH that is related to UAPs."JAMES BETHEA concurred, "Illegal aliens?"Adam Cochran, a professor and independent journalist, "We’re all thinking spaceships. But it’s probably going to be some fucked up app showing mugshots of ICE deported migrants.
