Susan Pretti, the mother of Alex Pretti, who in January was fatally shot by immigration enforcement agents, issued a rallying cry to supporters on the six-month anniversary of her son’s killing, urging Americans to "continue this fight.”“Today marks the six-month anniversary of Alex’s murder. No one has been held accountable, no apologies, not a single phone call from any governmental official, hospital personnel, or the [Minneapolis] police dept,” Mrs. Pretti wrote in a social media post. “Six months of pain, a roller-coaster of trauma over and over. Every time another death, another mention, a picture, a tribute, a sorrow so deep. I wonder how to move forward. Will I ever get over this loss and this pain? Will I ever be able to enjoy life again?”Pretti, then 37, was fatally shot on Jan. 24 in Minneapolis, Minnesota amid widespread protests in the state against the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. The two Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents who fired on Pretti were soon identified as Jesus Ochoa and Raymundo Gutierrez. Neither has faced known disciplinary action.Despite her struggles in the wake of her son’s death, Mrs. Pretti said that the support from “around the world” had been “nothing less than spectacular.” She also directly addressed those who’ve asked how they can continue to support her.“For all you asking what you can do,” Mrs. Pretti wrote. “Continue this fight. Never give up your right to speak out, protect your neighbor, your community and don’t forget to spend time with those you love…”Pretti's death is part of a broader pattern of shootings by immigration enforcement agents under the Trump administration. NBC News found that federal immigration officers shot 14 people between September 2025 and February 2026 as Homeland Security ramped up deportation operations nationwide. Phang sued Blanche for allegedly violating the Epstein Files Transparency Act by unlawfully redacting certain files.Blanche provided the court with an explanation as to why certain files were redacted, but Sullivan, doubting Blanche’s explanation, demanded he provide proof supporting his claims. Such a demand, as noted by Joyce Vance, former U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Alabama, demonstrated how the Trump administration had all but gutted the key judicial principle known as the “presumption of regularity.”“It was commonly used to advance the idea that in the absence of evidence to the contrary, courts should presume government employees, including DOJ lawyers, acted properly in the execution of their duties. Now it’s on life support and Judge Sullivan’s order is another nail in its coffin,” Vance wrote in an analysis published Saturday on her Substack.“This most recent order suggests that Judge Sullivan doesn’t believe the government when it says something is the case, even when that ‘something’ is as simple as the identity of the person in a ‘to’ line in an email. But the government has acted like it has something to hide, even after Congress passed the Transparency Act and Trump signed it into law.”Specifically, Phang has raised doubts that redacted names on a handful of Epstein-related files were lawfully withheld. The Justice Department (DOJ) has claimed the redactions in question were permitted under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, but Sullivan is refusing to take the DOJ at their word.“So the Judge isn’t accepting what the government has represented to it as truthful, and is requiring documentation to support its claims,” Vance wrote.“Under any other president, the Attorney General would have been disturbed by the suggestion prosecutors couldn’t be trusted. There would be disciplinary review. But here, the acting Attorney General is the defendant in the case. It’s paradigmatic of how far DOJ has fallen.”

This is no peace that we want a part of because let’s be honest, this isn’t a peacekeeping initiative. This is a terror campaign with the mission of traumatizing our neighbors until they self-deport,” said Dan De Leon, senior pastor at Friends Congregational Church in College Station. “We don’t need terror. Maine, said ahead of the vigils. “Johan Sebastián should still be here with his wife and daughter—and instead, his name joins a growing list of people killed by an institution that treats our communities as disposable.”“This is bigger than one shooting,” Cron added. “We will not stop fighting until there is justice for the Durán Guerrero family and a total dismantling of this lawless, criminal agency that took him from them.”
