A veteran "60 Minutes" producer is bolting after clashing with CBS News boss Bari Weiss over a "white genocide" story, per a new report.Michael Gavshon worked alongside correspondent Anderson Cooper on a story that debunked Trump's claim of "white genocide" in South Africa, which left him exasperated, according to an exclusive by The New York Post. Gavshon announced that he'll leave the show at the end of June, per a memo obtained by the Post."The old chestnut, I have stood on the shoulders of giants, couldn't be more true," Gavshon wrote in the memo. He noted that he spent 34 years at "60 Minutes" and 41 years at CBS News.The story drew heavy scrutiny from Weiss, who is also blamed for firing correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega, executive producer Tanya Simon, executive editor Draggan Mihailovich, veteran producer Guy Campanile, and digital operations chief Matthew Polevoy, the Post reported.Veteran correspondent Scott Pelley was also fired by "60 Minutes" executive producer Nick Bilton after confronting him and saying that Weiss is "murdering" the show.
"I want to be careful to not compromise an arson investigation, but this incident is very suspicious," Pratt told The Post.

President Donald Trump is poised to celebrate his 80th birthday this Sunday with an unprecedented Ultimate Fighting Championship bout at the White House, but according to Zeteo, the president is still musing about expanding his birthday celebrations to a national scale.“As the birthday boy gears up for his party, we feel compelled to remind you of a remarkably sad fact: Yes, President Trump really does want to make his birthday a federal holiday,” Zeteo’s Asawin Suebsaeng wrote in the outlet’s report published on Friday. “Whether he ever makes it happen, he’s got some Republican allies on Capitol Hill who would clearly like to help him pull it off.”Zeteo first reported back in March that on separate occasions throughout 2025, Trump had talked with “longtime advisers” about making his birthday a federal holiday. Those talks have apparently continued through 2026, expanded to include Republican lawmakers, and occurred with such frequency that some have coined a phrase to refer to the discussion topic.“The birthday thing,” one source familiar with the matter told Zeteo, speaking on the condition of anonymity, referring to Trump’s “casual” talks with GOP lawmakers about making his birthday a federal holiday.Suebsaeng argued the notion would have seemed "deeply weird" at the start of Trump's first term – but enacting it in 2026, he wrote, was outright "disturbing."“It would be deeply weird for a political party to fortify this kind of personality cult for a president whose approval rating hovered at the 60s, as President Barack Obama’s did when he left office and Trump took over the first time,” Suebsaeng wrote. “It is much, much more surreal and disturbing for a party to be doing this for a guy whose numbers are stuck in the low-to-mid 30s. It is more deranged than if Hollywood super-agents mounted a serious awards-season push to get ‘Freddy Got Fingered’ an Oscar. And yet here we are! Happy birthday, I guess?”

A 12-year-old boy and his 11-year-old sister were traumatized by two thugs who robbed their lemonade stand after threatening them with a gun, according to the kids' father.David Byrne said his two children were selling lemonade in their south Boston neighborhood when they were approached by two juveniles at 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday.'This is appalling; this is grotesque. This is something that should not happen to young kids.'The juveniles said they wanted to buy lemonade but walked away after claiming they didn't have any money. A few minutes later they returned, and one flashed a black gun in his waistband."My kids immediately just put their hands up and said, 'Take whatever you want.' So, I'm proud of my kids for that, and I'm proud of them for basically protecting each other but also being smart in that bad situation," Byrne said to WBZ-TV.The juveniles allegedly took all of the cash that the children had earned and fled on foot."This is appalling; this is grotesque. This is something that should not happen to young kids," the father said to WHDH-TV. "Can't have a gun and can't be robbing lemonade stands. It's as easy as that," he added.He went on to say that the children were sad and a little bit disturbed by what happened.Boston police said they were searching for the juveniles and that no arrests had been made. They did release video and images of suspects they believed to be the juveniles responsible for the armed robbery.
