Rob Schneider, a Hollywood star who has grown controversial in recent years for his ties to the MAGA movement, is publicly opposing the Texas GOP.The bizarre reason is that he believes they have let Islamic law take over the Lone Star State.Schneider, a notorious conspiracy theorist who has long pushed crank medical misinformation and quack cures for illnesses, took to X on Monday to outline his case against senior Republican officials in Texas, including Gov. Greg Abbott, and attorney general turned Senate candidate Ken Paxton."I never thought I would watch the Islamic and Marxist threat seize large parts of our great nation," wrote Schneider. "For years we have seen the damage this alliance has done to Europe, and now we are witnessing the same damage unfolding in the blue states. What I never fully understood until recently is how deeply this threat is already embedded — and how rapidly it is gaining power —inside red states."Schneider then went on to list what he saw as the evidence Texas is under siege by an Islamic takeover."Organizations with terror ties receive nonprofit status and political access while most elected officials either pander or look the other way," wrote Schneider, accusing Texas of being complicit through taxpayer funding of "madrasas." "Does anyone even care what is happening to the children trapped inside these abusive training schools that pump out imams? Your state has Sharia courts, Sharia judges, and Sharia patrols — and not one has been shut down.""I will keep speaking until every Texas politician takes this transformation seriously and understands the threat that every Texas citizen is up against — because this threat is advancing," wrote Schneider, before slamming the GOP for "the protective circle around their most powerful elected leaders — Ken Paxton, Greg Abbott, and Dan Patrick."Conspiracy theories about Islamic takeovers of Texas have propagated for years, spread by pointing to immigrant communities that have taken root in the state. Recently, a moral panic erupted over an Islamic event planned at a water park in North Texas.

In an interview with Jon Stewart, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) explained that concepts like a public library and fire department are examples of democratic socialism at work — but Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck couldn’t disagree more.“Jon Stewart, you’re pathetic. You’re pathetic. You allow him to explain socialism to America, and then he actually comes out and says, ‘Yeah, well, you know, building a building and lending out books for free. If we suggested that today, we’d be slandered,’” Glenn says.“That’s the library. Same thing with public schools and roads and everything else,” he adds, which leads him to ask — and answer — whether or not the fire department is actually “a sign of socialism” as Mamdani alleged.“The richest man in Rome was Marcus Crassus. Rome was wood, packed tight, burning constantly, and there was no fire department. So Crassus built one because he was the richest guy there. Five hundred men,” Glenn explains, noting that Crassus was a “bad guy” who used the free market to exploit those whose homes were burning down.His fire department would withhold help until those whose homes were burning agreed to sell it to them.“That’s the free market being applied to a burning building in the most corrupt way. It’s also why nobody has tried it again,” he says.“So let me take you to the year 6. Jesus was 6 years old now, and the fire tore through the city again in Rome. Caesar Augustus was there. And he went to the watchmen of the city, 7,000 men in seven what were called cohorts,” Glenn explains.“Each cohort was responsible for two districts. The first permanent public fire brigade in the history of the world was formed. He was the emperor. He ruled by slaves. He ruled by force,” he continues.“He was not a good guy. He wasn’t a socialist. He beat Karl Marx to the fire department by 18 centuries,” he adds.Then in 1736, Benjamin Franklin got “a couple dozen men to sign articles of agreement.”“Every man brings six leather buckets and two linen bags. They meet monthly, and when a member misses a meeting, he pays a fine. And the fines bought fire engines. That was the Union Fire Company,” Glenn explains.“It’s the first volunteer fire company in America. We still have volunteer fire departments. Why? Because of Benjamin Franklin, not Karl Marx. Hardcore supporters of President Donald Trump who are enamored with his anti-immigrant policies are less in love with the numbers coming out of the Department of Homeland Security.When they can get them.Trump's base is turning on the administration over what they view as deliberately inflated deportation claims and a failure to deliver on campaign promises. The crack in the MAGA coalition is widening as immigration hardliners realize they've been played, The Dispatch is reporting.The problem is transparency. According to the report, DHS has stopped releasing the underlying data that would back up its press release deportation claims."Since January 2025, the Trump administration has stopped releasing data tables from the DHS statistics office that break down how many people have been removed from the country, under what circumstances, and by which enforcement agency. Other agency-specific data sources have also not been updated since Trump took office, including the ICE statistics portal, which was previously updated quarterly," Grayson Logue of The Dispatch reported. The silence has fueled suspicions.Mark Morgan, a former CBP and ICE official from Trump's first term, is now openly accusing the administration of deception. "I'm confused, I'm frustrated, and quite frankly, I'm angry because I believe we're being intentionally misled," Morgan said this week. He's part of the Oversight Project, an activist group that recently sued the administration to force release of enforcement data.DHS touts deportation figures like 356,000 or 400,000, but immigration researchers "struggle to verify these numbers using available data." When activists break down the figures, they discover the numbers include exits, returns, and other removals that don't constitute interior deportations—the mass deportation campaign Trump promised.MAGA media personalities are now expressing buyer's remorse. Fox News personality Tomi Lahren dedicated a recent podcast to attacking DHS for "fudging the numbers" and delivering underwhelming results.Rosemary Jenks, co-founder of the Immigration Accountability Project, articulated MAGA's feelings during an appearance on Steve Bannon's podcast: "I think the numbers aren't as good as they want them to be. That's really the only conclusion we can get to.""We just gave billions and billions of dollars to ICE, and we're happy for that, we supported that, and we want to cheerlead for ICE and for the Trump administration, but we need the numbers in order to do that," she complained.
