'None of this is new': Trump defender shut down by CNN's Phillip after E Jean Carroll rant
On Saturday morning, CNN host Abby Phillip was forced to call out a New York Post journalist who went on an extended rant attacking E. Jean Carroll while justifying a possible DOJ investigation of the Donald Trump adversary. On “Table for Five,” the conversation moved from Trump’s “lawfare” slush fund, to the accusations from the Trump administration that Carroll might have perjured herself during one of her winning lawsuits filed against the president. That led the Post’s Lydia Moynihan to go off. With the entire panel talking over each other, Moynihan won out and claimed, “At this point, nothing is official. It's widely reported by CNN and other outlets. Um, basically she [Carroll] was claiming that an incident happened in 1993, 1984. She didn't have any specific date.”“That's not what this case was about, “ Phillip interjected.“But let me just walk through this case real briefly,” the Post reporter insisted before continuing, “I actually do think if you look at the E. Jean Carroll case now, there is new evidence coming to light. She says that Reid Hoffman had nothing to do with it. It turns out he may have, so that's what they're looking at. But I will acknowledge the perception for Trump is problematic.”“One quick point, a clarification of something that you said -- none of this that we're talking about here as it relates to E. Jean Carroll is new,” the CNN host lectured her. “This idea that Reid Hoffman paid for some of her legal expenses was brought to a judge. It was dealt with in the context of the case and the judge heard the arguments and said it does not impinge on her credibility. So that part of it also has been credible,” she added.“None of this is new. We've known about this for years and the judge dealt with these same allegations in the course of this case,” she pointed out. - YouTube youtu.be
