Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee has lost his Republican primary, NBC News projects, falling to a former state official in a primary season that has seen an unusually high number of incumbents lose renomination.

Trump-endorsed Rep. Andy Ogles lost his Republican primary in Tennessee's 5th District to Charlie Hatcher, who secured 53.2% of the vote.
Mr. Ogles, a two-term congressman, had held off primary threats before, despite controversy. But on Thursday, Charlie Hatcher, a former state agriculture commissioner, delivered an upset.
His loss makes him the second Donald Trump-endorsed candidate to lose a primary this week.
