Many critics anticipated that when President Donald Trump appointed Kevin Warsh as chairman of the Federal Reserve, he was getting a hack who would follow Trump’s order to cut rates regardless of the explosive consequences.On Wednesday, that’s not what happened — and Trump is likely stewing.“[Warsh’s] hard line on inflation must have … surprised Warsh’s patron, President Trump,” argued American Prospect co-founder Robert Kuttner.The Federal Reserve refused to lower interest rates from its current target range of 3.5 to 3.75 percent for short-term rates. Worse for Trump, the vote of the whole fed was 9-to-3, with three regional bank presidents voting to raise the target range for the federal funds rate by a quarter percentage point. Kuttner said this was the first time since 2016 that three officials dissented in the same direction.“The split vote signals that the Fed, despite President Trump’s wishes for a rate cut, is likely to vote for a rate hike between now and the November midterms. That’s because several factors, some of them of Trump’s own making, are increasing inflation, including the Iran war and retail price increases resulting from Trump’s tariffs,” said Kuttner.The decision to keep rates steady “tanked the Dow,” according to CNN anchor Kasie Hunt, delivering “the worst trading day for more than year.”But if Trump is stomping around the White House right now he only has himself to blame, said Kuttner.“Our impulsive and oblivious president is not good at connecting dots. One set of Trump policies raises inflation, while Trump pressures the Fed to ignore the problem and cut interest rates,” said Kuttner. “In his report to Congress on July 15, Kevin Warsh … surprised many observers by ignoring the Fed’s ‘dual mandate’ to pursue both price stability and high employment. In fact, Warsh had said, “The members of our [Federal Open Market] Committee have no tolerance for persistently elevated inflation. And we share a resolute commitment to restoring price stability.”Plus, Kuttner said Warsh made no mention at all of employment, implying Trump should have seen this coming.“Bonds are under pressure because of the massive increases in the federal debt under Trump, compounded by a lot of borrowing for the AI bubble and data center build-out. In many respects, these signals are a more important factor in Fed thinking than the month-to-month inflation rate,” Kuttner said. Worse for Trump, there are two more meetings of the policy-setting Federal Open Market Committee between now and November, when Trump’s voters are likely to show Trump how unhappy they are with his economy. And the challenge facing the Fed is that the widely expected rate hike won’t even be able to act fast enough to fix what’s broken about Trump’s economy.“And since the inflation is not the result of overheated demand but of the impact of the Iran war and Trump’s tariffs, higher rates will not moderate these prices,” said Kuttner. “But leaving rates alone would signal an indulgence of inflation that Warsh and his colleagues want to avoid.”

Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico continues giving Texans more and more reasons to vote against him in November. Not only does the progressive seminarian tout Christianity while supporting radical positions on abortion and transgenderism, but it appears he might be coming out in favor of race-based reparations now.On this episode of “Come and Take It,” BlazeTV host Sara Gonzales exposes what she believes is Talarico’s radical agenda to bring anti-white policies to Texas. After Talarico beat out fellow radical Democrat Jasmine Crockett back in March, Sara believes he’s been scheming to win over her voters, who she argues “voted for [Crockett] because she was black.”But there’s one little problem: Talarico is a white man — the primary target of left-wing grievance politics.“[Talarico] has checked all of the radical boxes for all of these other crazy things, but he hasn’t simped hard enough for black people specifically, which apparently angers the black community because you’re supposed to ... go around telling black Texans how you are going to specifically work for them rather than for the good of all people,” Sara says.She plays a recent video from Talarico’s July 19 town hall in southwest Houston, during which Black Lives Matter Houston activist Kandice Webber ripped into him, threatening, “You stay here, you answer our questions, or you suffer the consequences!” She then made it clear that she was attending the meeting “for my people, not for you.”In her own social media video, Webber denounced Talarico as another “white moderate” whom her “people” would “undervote.”“Black Texas voters, we ain’t f**king playing with you. Yeah, that white boy should have stayed where the f**k he was,” she raged.“As radical as we know that James Talarico is, she calls him a white moderate. Like, that is insanity,” Sara says, accusing the Democratic Party of creating a “Frankenstein” mob so out of control, no level of radicalism could ever satiate it.But it appears Talarico may be trying to do just that — satiate Crockett’s disgruntled voters.The day after Webber’s threat, an audience member at Talarico’s town hall in DeSoto, Texas, asked, “Do you support reparations? And would you legislate for an anti-black crime bill?”“Restoration, repairing past harms, is part of my faith tradition. It’s part of the values I was raised with, and it’s exactly why we need a lot of the policies we’ve been talking about here to invest in black communities, to invest in black Texans — whether it’s tuition relief, whether it’s homeownership grants, whether it is baby bonds to ensure that we are helping to build that generational wealth,” Talarico responded. “We have to correct the injustices of our past.”“We are seeing the reverberations of slavery in modern-day Texas all over the place, and until we as a society are committed to righting those past wrongs, of restoring our black communities, we’re never going to be able to get this country back on track,” he added.Sara translates Talarico’s calculated words: “Yes, I support reparations. Yes, I support legislation that puts black people on a pedestal and treats them better than anyone else because someone’s grandparents’ grandparents’ grandparents were mistreated a long time ago.”She highlights the objective racism in his propositions.“Tuition relief, aka free college, but for blacks only. White people, no thank you. Homeownership grants? Blacks only. Whites need not apply. Baby bonds, but only for black babies. Poor white kids? Sorry, you’re out of luck. Days after an explosive meeting at the White House Situation Room last July to address a crisis threatening to engulf the Trump administration, FBI Director Kash Patel sought clarity on how the scandal might implicate powerful men linked to Jeffrey Epstein.Addressing Patel as “Boss” and citing a prior discussion between the two, an FBI official from the bureau’s Information Management Division responded by sending the director an email with a collection of spreadsheets named “Flagged Items Lists.” Based on guidance calling on FBI personnel tasked with redacting materials from the Epstein files to “flag items of interest for discussion with DOJ attorneys,” the FBI official informed Patel that “the list included public figures, potentially classified information, potential CSAM [child sex abuse material], etc.”The guidance to flag these sensitive items from the Epstein files came from the Department of Justice, Assistant Director Shannon Parry informed Patel. Heading the effort for the Department of Justice was Todd Blanche, then the deputy attorney general and formerly President Donald Trump’s criminal defense lawyer. Blanche is now awaiting confirmation as attorney general from the U.S. Senate.The email from Parry and other documents about sensitive items flagged for review by the DOJ, including references to public figures, was quietly released by the FBI last week and are being reported here for the first time.The materials in the “Flagged Items List” had already been turned over to the Department of Justice four months earlier, Parry told Patel in the July 21, 2025 email.“These items were produced as part of the approved Project Plan per DOJ’s guidance to flag items of interest for discussion with DOJ attorneys as we redacted."The internal discussion at the FBI about public figures potentially implicated in the scandal was starkly different from an awkward public memo jointly released with the DOJ exactly two weeks earlier that cited “an exhaustive review of investigative holdings relating to Jeffrey Epstein” and the federal agencies’ “commitment to transparency.”The materials, the agencies said, “did not expose any additional third parties to allegations of illegal wrongdoing” and “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.”A DOJ spokesperson told Raw Story that “any guidance on how or what to flag was given for the purpose of general awareness in preparation for disclosure.”The spokesperson’s statement is jarringly at odds with the July 7, 2025 memo that was a product of the document review. The memo specifically stated that it was the “determination” of the DOJ and FBI “that no further disclosure would be appropriate or warranted.”The DOJ did not respond to a request for clarification on the statement. That case file includes a video file capturing a 2009 FBI sting operation resulting in the arrest of Alfredo Rodriguez, the former house manager for Epstein’s home in Palm Beach, Florida, on suspicion of selling a so-called “black book” containing phone numbers of young women and girls that Epstein abused.A description of the video capturing the conversation between Rodriguez and an FBI undercover employee that was flagged for the DOJ’s review contains just the sort of details about potential involvement by Epstein associates that Trump’s supporters had avidly sought.“The two talked about the girls (victims), others employed by Epstein and Epstein’s associates,” the description reads. “The two discussed things that happened between the girls (victims) and Epstein’s associates. There are associates named during the conversation.”Aside from Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s partner who was convicted of sex trafficking in 2021, the description does not name any of the associates cited by Rodriguez. But when the video was released along with millions of other records through the Epstein Files Transparency Act in January 2026, the associates mentioned by Rodriguez were revealed to be former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and attorney Alan Dershowitz, among others.“Here, Mr. Epstein says, ‘Mr. Barak, I’ll fly you to New York.’ And some of the girls that came along the way,” Rodriguez says in the video, which Raw Story reviewed.
