President Donald Trump enraged the nation Friday when he blamed Minnesota for a water system cyberattack that investigators suggest could have been orchestrated by Iran. Trump disputed law enforcement officials' claims that Iran could be to blame for cyberattacks on more than 30 facilities during a cabinet meeting Friday at Camp David."I think I blame it on Minnesota because they're grossly incompetent," Trump said. "I would blame it on Minnesota and the governor, the corrupt governor of Minnesota."Trump then denied any Iran involvement. "Iran should be so lucky," Trump said. "Iran's got bigger problems than worrying about Minnesota."The president's remarks sickened many onlookers who linked comment to a personal animus toward Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz."Just incredible to watch the US president take Iran's side when my state's water systems are under cyberattack," marveled Minneapolis-based journalist Aaron Rupar."Trump is so fixated on retribution against Minnesota that he'd rather attack Minnesota than Iran," posted Minnesota statehouse candidate Aaron Klemz."He's siding with our enemies over a state that didn't vote for him," observed Bluesky user Mike Bloom. "He is absolutely disgusting.""Every state that didn’t vote for him is now in danger," wrote actor and comedian Dietrich Bader."His own FBI assessed it was Iran," pointed out political strategist Sawyer Hackett. "They also said they attacked multiple states.""He’s been coming after us Minnesotans since day 1 of his second term," opined "Proud Minnesotan" knewsy. "Walz called him weird and that struck him so deep all he wants is revenge on us.""Hope Minnesota voters ask representatives like [House Majority Whip Tom Emmer] about this in the future when it turns out it was Iran behind the attack," suggested author Chris Katje."That's certainly a take," gulped The Record's Martin Matishak."Telling that Trump thinks Americans in Minnesota are a bigger enemy than Iran," seethed Bluesky user Angry Uncle Sam. President Donald Trump's decision to keep acting Attorney General Todd Blanche in his current position should be used in a third impeachment proceeding, according to a new column.Longtime DC insider Michael Tomasky wrote that the president would rather leave the attorney general seat open with an acting administrator rather than agree to forgo his "slush fund" and IRS immunity deal in writing.On Friday, Tomasky pointed to Trump's Thursday Truth Social post announcing his intention of keeping Blanche in his current position rather than work out an agreement with members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.As he wrote, "It’s a full-blown scandal, as President Trump’s real interests here have become clearer, notably via a Truth Social message he posted late Thursday morning. It’s raw sewage even by his standards, and if the Democrats retake the House, this matter has now jumped to the top of my list of grounds for impeachment.”Asserting that Trump's unwillingness to negotiate on the slush fund and IRS immunity protections represents an abuse of power worthy of formal charges, he added, "Sending $1.8 billion in taxpayer dollars, received in the corrupt manner this money was received, to convicted January 6 insurrectionists is without question a high crime in and of itself."According to Tomasky, at the rate Trump is going, Democrats, should they gain control of the House in November, may have "hundreds" of charges that can be folded into the articles of impeachment but, as he put it, "The slush fund and immunity grant sure look like count number one to me."
