The White House has not announced who will take over the briefing room podium when Leavitt departs at the end of the month.
Leavitt called it a "bittersweet decision" in a social media post Wednesday shortly after President Donald Trump announced she would be stepping down. She recently returned to the White House podium after the birth of her second child, a daughter named Viviana, in May.
