Comedian and television host Bill Maher said he supports the ouster of longtime “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley and rejected claims that President Trump is responsible for the recent shakeup at CBS News. “What does the panel think of the recent shakeup at ’60 Minutes’?” Maher asked guests Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and former United…
Scott Pelley, the longtime “60 Minutes” correspondent who was fired by the network last week after criticizing its new leadership, is sparking scorn from conservatives over a new interview with the New York Times. During the wide-ranging interview, Pelley fought back tears as he described being fired by top bosses at CBS News, accused its corporate leadership of altering coverage…
Comedian and political commentator Bill Maher revealed that he will be in an upcoming documentary about the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kirk, a right-wing political activist and cofounder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed Sept. 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. A week ago, former 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley arrived for a meeting with his new boss, Nick Bilton, on the CBS News show at which they both work. Pelley took this as an opportunity to lecture and browbeat Bilton. In the meeting, which was recorded and leaked to the press, Pelley publicly accused those whom he works for as lacking credentials as journalists. Singling Bilton out, Pelley said that he had

I have spent a lot of time around people. Out of a general sense of curiosity, I watched the Scott Pelley interview with NYT journalist Lulu Garcia-Navarro, who, by professional obligation and sense of career enhancement, stepped into the role of codependent enabler in order to advance a professional narrative that is very disturbing to […]

Veteran broadcast journalist Scott Pelley, who was fired from CBS News last week after nearly four decades with the network, on Sunday revealed a stunning directive handed down by editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, one that appeared designed to depict anti-ICE protesters as “more violent.”Speaking with The New York Times, Pelley recalled he and his colleagues covering the massive protests in Minnesota earlier this year against President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, protests that saw immigration enforcement officers kill Americans such as Alex Pretti or Renee Good, the latter of whom was shot dead in her vehicle.“About four hours after our deadline, Bari Weiss sends an email to my boss, Tanya Simon,” Pelley recalled. “Two of the things in the email include, can we make the protesters look more violent? Now, I’m paraphrasing. I don’t have the quote, but that’s what was communicated to me.”Additionally, Pelley claimed that Weiss has instructed staff on how to cover the killing of Good, who before being shot, was reportedly issued conflicting commands by immigration enforcement agents, including one agent telling her to “drive away.”“And the other thing, Renee Good’s car,” Pelley told the Times, recalling Weiss’ alleged email. “You need to describe her as driving toward the officer.”Weiss' insistence on how Good’s killing had to be described in CBS News’ coverage, Pelley argued, flew in the face of what actually happened.“This is not what you see on the video. On the video, you see the officer standing slightly off the front of the car,” Pelley said. “And you clearly see Ms. Good’s wheels turned completely as far as they will go, away from the officer. But he shoots her in the head, kills her, and says something about her that I can’t repeat in polite company.”Good god this is a crazy interview. Listen as Scott Pelley describes how Bari Weiss wanted journalists at CBS to cover the killing of Renee Good in Minnesota. This is why we can’t have oligarchs running our news outlets, this is absolutely devastating. pic.twitter.com/6N3k4BWKdl— Brian Cardone 🏴☠️🇺🇦 (@cardon_brian) June 7, 2026
It's hard to overstate the impact of "60 Minutes" on journalism. It's the most-watched television-news program in America. Since its debut on CBS in 1968, it's been the home of some of the most-storied broadcast journalists, from Mike Wallace and Ed Bradley to Lesley Stahl, Anderson Cooper and, until this past week, Scott Pelley.
