President Trump said that Ms. Leavitt, who recently gave birth to her second child, would be leaving to spend time with her family.
Leavitt called it a "bittersweet decision" in a social media post Wednesday shortly after President Donald Trump announced she would be stepping down. She recently returned to the White House podium after the birth of her second child, a daughter named Viviana, in May.
"Our wonderful White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role," Trump said.
