Former DOJ prosecutor goes 'scorched earth' on Trump’s ousted AG

Summary
President Donald Trump ousted his attorney general on Thursday for reportedly failing to meet enough of his legal demands. Speaking about Pam Bondi on CNN, former federal prosecutor and legal analyst Elie Honig called her an "abject failure." "I think Pam Bondi's legacy as an attorney general will be as an abject failure. And I think there's broad agreement on that. Start with the Epstein files," Honig said about the investigation files for trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. "Everyone on both sides of the aisle agrees that she badly mishandled the Epstein files. As Evan [Pérez] and Jeff [Zeleny] just noted, she was the one who brought this back to the fore by making these grand promises about disclosing the Epstein files that ultimately she could not fulfill," Honig said, referencing Bondi's flubs around the matter. "When Congress passed a law requiring the DOJ to produce the Epstein files, she completely botched it. DOJ acted more than a month late. They over-redacted the names that should not have been taken out. They redacted. They left victim information there. When she testified about this a month or so ago in front of Congress, it was an utter disaster. She embarrassed herself," blasted Honig. He noted that she "relied on ad hominem insults and irrelevancies." Bondi brought a binder containing opposition research on members of Congress. When they began attacking her, she flipped to their pages and went on the attack. As the demand for answers persisted, Bondi began shouting about how great the stock market was doing. It earned her relentless mockery. "Beyond that," Honig continued, "if you look beyond the Epstein files, she also has failed. Clearly, Donald Trump does not see Pam Bondi as a success. The reporting is from CNN and others that one of the main reasons is [that] Donald Trump is unhappy that Pam Bondi was not aggressive enough in pursuing his opponents."He closed by saying that Bondi's true legacy is that she will go down in history as the one who "completely gave away DOJ's independence." CNN host Brianna Keilar quipped, "Scorched Earth, Elie Honig! I know a lot of people share that opinion as you do, and you put it right out there with the facts of her tenure." - YouTube www.youtube.com
