Trump drowned in mockery for sabotaging GOP odds of holding red house seat
Source: Raw Story · Bias: Far Left
Summary
With Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT) departing Congress, Republicans in Montana had a strong candidate lined up to replace him in state elections secretary Christi Jacobsen — but instead, President Donald Trump endorsed a talk radio host to run for the vacant seat."It is my Great Honor to endorse Aaron Flint, who is running to represent the tremendous people of Montana’s 1st Congressional District," wrote Trump on Truth Social. "Aaron is a MAGA Warrior, who is strongly supported by many of the Greatest America First Patriots in Montana, including Senator Tim Sheehy, Congressmen Ryan Zinke and Troy Downing, and Governor Greg Gianforte, among others!"Commenters on social media buried Trump in mockery over his choice of endorsement, arguing it needlessly complicated Republicans' already narrow path to retaking the House majority by giving Democrats a stronger opening in a red-leaning but potentially competitive seat encompassing most of Montana's larger cities in the west."Republicans could’ve had a relatively easy layup with MT Sec. of State Christi Jacobsen running in a Trump+11 seat," wrote California-based student and political analyst Zac Harmon. "But no, Trump endorses a far-right radio host instead lol.""Trump is literally allergic to winning jesus christ," wrote @JoeNC05, a former Republican turned independent commentator. One other commentator compared the endorsement to Trump's backing of Joe Kent, a MAGA activist with neo-Nazi ties who ran unsuccessfully for a red-leaning district in southern Washington State, twice, before Trump gave him a job in his administration.
