Summary
President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the strikes the U.S. and Israel coordinated against Iran will continue throughout the week until peace is achieved. Early Saturday morning, the U.S. and Israel struck multiple sites across Iran. Israel struck sites where the country's military and political leadership were located, which killed Ayatollah Ali Khameini, the dictator who has ruled the country since 1989. The U.S. struck Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile facilities, even though Trump previously claimed those sites were "totally obliterated" during a similar strike last year. "The heavy and pinpoint bombing ... will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!" Trump wrote on Truth Social. Trump also claimed that he expects the Iranian people to begin "That process should soon be starting in that, not only the death of Khamenei but the Country has been, in only one day, very much destroyed and, even, obliterated," Trump wrote.
