Summary
Musician Nicki Minaj, who in recent months has become a prominent ally of President Donald Trump, was hammered by critics Sunday after boasting about what she called “one of the most meaningful gifts” she’d “ever received” – a Trump Bible, signed by the president himself.“One of the most meaningful gifts I’ve ever received in my entire life,” Minaj wrote Saturday evening in a social media post on X to her more than 26 million followers, alongside a photo of the Bible.Trump began selling a version of the Bible branded with his own name in 2024, Bibles that also include the Constitution, albeit with significant omissions that have raised concern. Standard editions of the Trump Bible retail for $59.99, and signed copies, for $1,000.Trump appeared to waive the cost for his newest ally Minaj, gifting her a signed copy of the Trump Bible for free. Her praise for the gift, however, was met with scorn among critics.“I cannot FATHOM ever putting my signature onto the Word of God,” wrote Kyle Yates, a Christian-based content creator, in a social media post on X to their more than 83,000 followers. “I cannot FATHOM ever putting my name on the Holy Bible and selling it. How are we – as Christians – not more upset by stuff like this?!”Gabe Sanchez, a comedian and podcast host, wrote to their more than 68,000 followers that Minaj’s signed Trump Bible was “One of the most sacrilegious gifts I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”And X user “Blakeley,” a songwriter and political commentator, characterized Minaj’s gift as blasphemy. “I’m never gonna get over that so-called Christians are fine with Trump blasphemously profiting off the Bible,” they wrote to their nearly 74,000 followers on X.Minaj recently joined Trump on stage at the U.S. Treasury Department’s Trump Accounts Summit in Washington, D.C., an appearance that made headlines after Trump complimented the musician for having “beautiful” skin.
