Summary
Following the Supreme Court’s bombshell ruling Friday against the White House’s so-called "reciprocal tariffs,” President Donald Trump lavished praise Saturday on the three Supreme Court justices who back him and his policy, declaring one in particular to be his “new hero.”“My new hero is United States Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and, of course, Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that they want to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”Trump was issued a stunning rebuke by the Supreme Court Friday – which has voted in favor of the Trump administration during his second term more times than not – after justices ruled that the president had acted outside of his authority in imposing tariffs. The three dissenting judges who backed Trump’s tariffs, however, appear to have gained newfound respect from the president. The justices who voted against Trump’s authority to impose tariffs, however, have earned Trump’s scorn, including his own appointees. The president blasted all six on Friday during a White House press conference, telling reporters that he was “ashamed” of them, and that they were “unpatriotic and disloyal to our Constitution."
