Summary
Health inspectors raised serious concerns after a recent visit to President Donald Trump's Chicago hotel, according to a report published Tuesday. A December inspection report at Trump International Hotel Chicago revealed that health officials found small flies in the bar and dish area of the rooftop restaurant, pooling wastewater on the main kitchen floor from prep sinks that were draining, and a dishwasher that wasn't fully sanitizing guests' dishes and utensils, The Daily Beast reported. They also uncovered debris in prep coolers and a cracked ice machine lid. “Observed more than 10 small flies throughout bar area and 3 small flies in dish area. Instructed manager to service all areas affected by pests,” according to the report. Health inspectors also saw workers handling food without gloves while they assembled sushi toppings and burger buns, The Beast reported. The report also stated that the employee bathroom did not have hand soap. After the citations were issued on Dec. 17, the hotel management had until Dec. 23 to correct the problems. When they returned, both kitchen areas at the hotel had improved and met the inspectors' standards; however, the broken ice machine lid was still not replaced. This wasn't the only Trump property to recently receive a citation for health violations. Trump National Golf Club Westchester was cited by local health officials for "critical" violations, according to recently released records.Westchester County Department of Health officials inspected Trump's New York club on Nov. 20 and observed insects, rodents and other health violations.According to Tuesday's report, the club was cited for "dirty surfaces," food that was "uncovered, mislabeled, [and] stored on floor," and "missing or inadequate sneeze guards."
