Ex-Trump official goes nuclear over DOJ's Epstein 'cover-up': 'It's coming from the top'

Summary
Ex-Trump administration official Sarah Matthews went hard at her former boss on Tuesday during an appearance on MS NOW, accusing President Donald Trump of being involved in a massive “cover-up” concerning Jeffrey Epstein and his past ties to the disgraced financier.“This administration loves to claim that they're the most transparent administration in history, and that's obviously just a bunch of bologna,” Matthews said. “It's not true.”Matthews, who previously served as Trump’s deputy press secretary during his first administration, pointed to new reporting that claimed dozens of pages from the Justice Department’s public online database of files on Epstein appeared to be missing, pages that, based on context, are believed to include serious allegations against Trump, including that he sexually assaulted a child.“There is no reason as to why you would not publish these 53 pages that NPR discovered were missing in the Epstein files that relate to Trump,” Matthews continued. “If this was an allegation that he claims has no merit, then why not publish it, why not let the public see it and make that judgment for themselves? Clearly there is a cover-up happening… I think it's coming from the top, I think Donald Trump is dictating what he wants to happen when it relates to the Epstein files.”NPR’s reporting was also corroborated by Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), who on Tuesday confirmed that the files in question were indeed missing after visiting the Justice Department's headquarters in Washington, D.C. to personally view unredacted files.“There's a reason why these 53 pages were not released to the public – there is seriously some sort of cover-up happening,” Matthews said. “I know that sounds like I have a tinfoil hat on and that I'm making a jump here, but why would they not release these files? It just doesn't make any sense to me.”
