The map in Texas made five Democratic-held seats more competitive for Republicans. The map was challenged in court, but the Supreme Court ruled that the map can be used in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. Other blue states, like California and New York, have also passed new election maps ahead of the midterm, according to the National Council of State Legislatures.
